Gift Ideas Faqs

food gift ideas?

I need a couple of food gift ideas (with recipes and how to's) for children to make for a basket of goodies. The basket has to hold 3 or 4 different items and each item must contain enough for 30 people to get a little of that item. We already thought of one item and that is to make Hot chocolate cones... any other ideas?

  1. pb&j sandwhiches potato chips, hostess dingdongs and welchs grapejuice
  2. Definitely some kind of bark, like white chocolate and peppermint or milk chocolate and almond. It's simple and you can break it into pieces by hand.
  3. chocolate spoons, home baked cookies or candy canes
  4. cookies and candy get candied fruits like appricots
  5. Here's a really easy one that kids can do--candy covered mini pretzels. Melt almond bark in the microwave, cool it a bit, and let the kids dip the mini pretzels in it and lay them on waxed paper to cool. If you want to get fancy you can put sprinkles on them before the almond bark hardens. Once they're cool you can bag them in something festive and you're done.
  6. REINDEER COOKIES 1 cup Brown sugar 1 cup Sugar 1 cup Butter, softened 1 cup Smooth peanut butter 3 cups Flour 2 Eggs 2 teaspoons Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon Salt 1 teaspoon Vanilla Cream the butter and sugars, eggs and peanut butter, salt and vanilla. Add the soda and flour and mix well. Roll into balls. Flatten the ball and shape it into a triangle. Place pretzel pieces into 2 of the triangle corners for antlers. Place a red M-M at the other corner (Rudolph's red nose), and 2 green M-Ms on the cookie for eyes. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Peppermint Brittle 2 pounds white chocolate 30 small peppermint candy canes Line a large jellyroll pan with heavy-duty foil. Place white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in microwave on medium setting for 5 to 6 minutes. Stir occasionally, until chocolate is melted and smooth. Place candy canes in a plastic bag, or between two pieces of waxed paper. Using a mallet or rolling pin, break the candy canes into chunks . Stir peppermint into melted white chocolate. Spread evenly in pan, and chill until set, about 1 hour. Break into pieces by slamming pan on counter. Stir in the vanilla and salt. Spread into pan, and cool to room temperature. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine cream, liqueur, and 2 cups chocolate chips. Heat in microwave until the chocolate melts; stir until smooth. Cool to lukewarm, then pour over the fudge layer. Refrigerate until both layers are completely set, about 1 hour. 7. how about diffrent kinds of muffins you can bake, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, or m&m cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, (just like a sugar cookie, but you roll them in sugar & cinnamon) rice krispie treats shapped like green wreaths, just dye them green, then put red hots on them as decroation. Use twizlers for a ribbon on top of wreath (this is an opitional for me), or if you really wanan get fancy, how about homemade fudge
  8. You don't say how old the kids are...and not sure if you are making this at a school or church...do you have access to an oven or microwave?? Do you need "non-cooking" items?? Not knowing what your requirements are, I am going to give you a few ideas... 1)HAYSTACK CANDY This microwave candy is made with chow mein noodles and butterscotch chips. INGREDIENTS: 1 cup butterscotch chips 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup peanuts 2 cups chow mein noodles PREPARATION: Microwave the butterscotch chips and peanut butter on 50 percent power for 3 to 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and blend to coat noodles thoroughly. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. 2) PEANUT BUTTER KRISPIE BARS INGREDIENTS: 1/4 cup butter 1 package (10 ounces) marshmallows 6 cups chocolate flavored crispy rice cereal 1 cup peanut butter chips 1/2 cup chopped peanuts, optional PREPARATION: Butter a 13- X 9-inch pan. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the marshmallows and butter, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in cereal, peanut butter chips, and peanuts, if using; mix until well combined. 3) PUPPY CHOW INGREDIENTS 1 (17.5 ounce) package crispy corn cereal squares (like chex) 1/2 cup butter 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips 1 cup peanut butter 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar for decoration DIRECTIONS Put cereal in a large mixing bowl. Melt the butter or margarine, chocolate chips and peanut butter together. Pour over cereal and stir gently. Let cool. Once cool place coated cereal in a large bag add some confectioners' sugar and shake until coated. 4) NO-BAKE COOKIES INGREDIENTS 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 2 cups white sugar 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup butter 3 cups quick cooking oats 1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter 1 tablespoon vanilla extract DIRECTIONS Heat cocoa, sugar, milk and butter over medium heat. Boil these verrrrry slowly (they will turn out better) when they reach the boiling point boil them for no longer than 90-120 seconds. Stir together oats, peanut butter and vanilla with a big wooden spoon or Kitchen Aid. Pour the hot mix over the oatmeal mix and drop on wax paper. 5) PEANUT BUTTER NUGGETS INGREDIENTS 2/3 cup crushed cornflakes cereal 1/2 cup shredded coconut 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 2 tablespoons honey DIRECTIONS Mix 1/2 cup corn flakes, coconut, peanut butter and honey together. Shape into small balls and roll them in the remaining cornflakes. These cookies can be put in the fridge to firm up. They also freeze well. Hope this helps!!
