Teacher Appreciation: gifts/food/any advice you can provide?
I'm looking for ideas for Teacher Appreciation week. Yes, I know this is in March, but I have recently become part of a committee and we're trying to get a jump start on planning. We are looking for gift basket ideas (the more personable, the better) and ideas for breakfasts/lunches/snacks that will be provided to the teachers throughout the week. Any ideas for party/decorating themes would also be greatly appreciated. Also, if any of you have done this before, please share ideas that worked or didn't work so well for you. Please realize that we will have the help of parents, but our budget is limited.

- At my school the PTA usually provides some sort of food for us each day. One day is breakfast, one is lunch, one is desserts, etc. When lunch is provided it is usually "themed." Sometimes we have had subs, sandwhiches, and salads. We have also had chili days. Parents made crockpots full of different types of chilli. There was also crackers, torilla chips, and cornbread. Gift basket ideas could include themes such as gardening, reading, movie nights, beach, home improvement, scrapbooking, baking, cooking, skin care, bath and body care.
- great! my mom is a math teacher, one of the least appreciated. if your teacher has whiteboards (almost all of them do now) get some fun colored whiteboard pens. they are more fun to write with, and kids actually pay more attention to what's being written. -colored white board pens -gift cards to fast food places walking distance from school -any kind of snacks (especially ones that you can sneak while your class is working) -fun storage device (my mom uses this old doll house as a kind of book shelf) -decorations for their room (silk flowers, etc.) as far as breakfasts, go for homemade stuff like cinnamon rolls or something. all my mom gets is a small piece of toast most the time.
- Elementary or HS? Elementary- great stickers for papers, a name stamp, chocolate, gift cards, movie passes, volunteers. No mugs or homemade cookies. No jewelry, Christmas ornaments or pictures of students. No regifting- it is soooo obvious.
- Gift cards to Staples, Walmart, School supply places. Teachers are always buying things for their classrooms.
- Some sort of ice cream treat brought around by students in the afternoon. Apple shaped thank you notes taped on their doors when they come in in the morning. A trivia contest with prizes. Prizes can be small things, depending on your budget. A daily announcement at school showing appreciation of teachers....Can be by the moms or have a student read the message. We have a cookout at lunch each year for our teachers.....Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad....they love it....
